A few years ago, I purchased 3 small rugs at a tent sale. It's the type of sale where you fill a bag for one price. These 3 rugs were some of things I put in that bag.
At that time, I needed a small runner, so I decided to sew 2 of the rugs together. Worked great for the spot I needed at that time. Now I need a longer one, so I sewed on the third one and thought I would share the idea with you.

Just connect the 2 rugs with a thick heavy duty thread and big needle.

I sewed big whip stitches...ignore the dog hair. We have a yellow lab and I swear I can vacuum and the hair weaves itself into the fabric.

I thought of another idea to connect the two rugs or to secure your stitches...the ever popular Duct Tape.
The spot where the rug is doesn't get much traffic...it's just in a little hallway going into our master bath. Maybe the Duct Tape will hold...I'll let you know.
The stitches have been there for years though, so that I can attest to!

Here are the 3 rugs attached and in the narrow hall going into the master bath and the other fur ball we have...Hallie

Great idea to "make" a rug that will suit your needs. Buy 2 or 3 cheap rugs in the color you need and make the right size for your area.
Look for rugs on sale too...you know we all love a bargain!!
I hope you have a Sew, Sew Saturday,
~Karen~
